Robert K. Pinkerton, P.E.

Before joining Henrico County’s Department of Public Works in 1977 as a civil engineer, Bob Pinkerton was a construction engineer for the City of Richmond’s Department of Public Works. Mr. Pinkerton was named the County’s Director of Public Works in 1990 after receiving progressive promotions within the agency. In 1994 he was appointed to his current position, Deputy County Manager for Community Operations, where he has direct responsibilities over the Departments of Public Utilities and Public Works, the Division of Recreation and Parks, Real Property, and Virginia Cooperative Extension. 

Mr. Pinkerton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. His professional memberships include the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Public Works Association. He also serves on committees for the National Association of Counties and the Virginia Association of Counties.

Mr. Pinkerton is a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond and retired at the rank of colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves.
