An 1860 living historical farm and museum, Meadow Farm Museum presents programs and exhibits on the culture of the rural south during the mid-19th century. Interpreters provide insight into the lives of Dr. John Mosby Sheppard, the owner of Meadow Farm, and his family. On selected weekends, costumed interpreters demonstrate seasonal activities in the farmhouse, barns, doctor’s office, blacksmith forge, fields and pastures. The Museum also offers a full schedule of workshops, special events, living history programs, exhibits and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The Orientation Center features rotating exhibits and a gift shop. Donated to Henrico County in 1975 by Elizabeth Adam Crump, wife of Sheppard Crump, the last Adjutant General of Virginia, Meadow Farm is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Admission is free to the public with the exception of workshops, special programs and group tours. The grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk year round. Many museum programs can be affected by weather conditions. Call (804) 501-5520 prior to your visit to ensure program schedule.
Meadow Farm Museum is open March through November, Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Winter hours from December through February are Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The Museum is closed the first two weeks in January.
