Area Localities Lift Voluntary Water Conservation Measures |

RICHMOND, VA—The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU), along with the Counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover and Henrico announced today the lifting of Voluntary Water Conservation measures that went into effect Nov. 3, 2008. Since that time, rain patterns have caused water levels in the James River to fluctuate. However, over the last two weeks water levels have remained consistently above the alert trigger level.

What We Do
Public Utilities provides water, wastewater systems, and solid
waste services to over 90,000 customers.
Some of our facilities and activities:
- Public Utilities (DPU) provides drinking water to and collects wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial customers
- Sanitary landfill (a.k.a., the dump) which takes in over
90,000 tons of solid waste each year
- Refuse collection service
- Recycling, curbside and drop-off
